Today we talked about logarithm functions. It was totally new for me so I had to do some internet searching. I found a great site that explains every lesson with a teacher on video it helped a lot.

The Flu.........

On Wednesday and Thursday I was sick but looking at the blog I was able to determine we did Logarithmic Functions and Logarithmic Laws. I don't quite understand the Logarithmic Laws yet but I get Logarithms are just exponents........I'll have to see the notes on Monday.

Early Dismissal

On Tuesday it was early dismissal and Mr. Max gave us a work period. I worked on accelerated math. I need to work on exercises as well. I am spending to much time on accelerated math and not enough time on exercises. Basketball is starting so I need to get my head on straight! Also I think I did not do to well on the last test.........I did the practice test but I finished it the block right before the test. It was not a good idea because I forgot how to do the last part of the test. I wish I had studied harder because the test was a gimme, but I guess I learned a lesson and I better make sure it doesn't happen again.

Exponential functions

Today we talked about exponential functions. I found out that it is almost like the transformation unit we studied last. All the rules are the same, so I think I get it so far. I need to work on identities still, I still dont fully understand them. Ex) double angle Identities, and some sum and difference Identities

Yesterday we had a test. I think I did pretty good on it. I did the practice test and that really helped.

Transformational geometry

Today we learned about reflecting functions over the x and y axis. I get it the only thing I didn't get was how to find the odd and even functions.

Today we learned about transformations. Also we learned about horozontal and verticle compress and stretch. Exercise 8 1 to 10.

Today we learned about transformations, so far its pretty easy and I understand it.

Yesterday we had a test and I didn't get a chance to write on my blog. The test went okay but there is definitly room for inprovement.

Yesterday we had a substitute and I worked on accelerated math.

Graphs of Trig Functions

Today we learned about graphing trig functions. First we learned how to graph them then we found out the domain(side to side), range(up and down), the zeros, the period(how many times the circle repeats or on a graph, horozontally.or 2pie.) and amplitude( the measure from the x axis to the top of the curve).The graphs for cosine and sine are the same except for the cosine graph is shifted over and the tangent is way different because its equation is y/x. I understood the concept.

Yesterday we talked about trig equations and I did not get it. I will have to look on the internet tonight to try to understand it.

Yesterday we had a work class, I forgot to scribe so i had to do it today. I just worked on my spreadsheet and got it done. I understood how to get the answers in the chart.

Solving Trig Equations

Today we did some more trig equation examples from an acceleration math sheet. I understood how to evaluate the questions. I leaned that the 30, 60, 90 triangle is always on the outside values on the unit circles and the 45,45,90 triangles are aways on the values in the middle. For example 45 degrees is a 45, 45, 90 triangle and the two surrounding values, 60 and 30 are 30, 60, 90 triangles. First eight questions on exercise 4 are due.

Solving Trig Equations

We did an example for solving trig equations today. I wasn't sure about it but towards the end I started to understand. I need to look at the recording this weekend. Look at pages 66 to 80 in the green book.

Today we learned about Trig Functions.........I sort of get how to complete the chart but I need to work on it to get it drilled into my head. We did an example that clarified it a bit but I need to practice some more questions. I am understanding cosecant, cotangent, and secant a little better now. Try Exercise 3 and complete chart.

Today we learned about the unit circle. I found out that every degree has a match with a radian. For example 270 degrees is 3pie over 2. I also found out that there are points on the circle which 30,60,90 traingles meet up with. Also I learned the radians around the arcs of the circles. The homework is exercise 2, one to ten.

Today we learned about radians (Which is pie*radian) in 180 degrees or the radian is a unit of plane angle, equal to 180/π (or 360/2π) degrees. First five questions are due for Monday in exercise 1. Recording will be on Edline. Look up the two triangles.

Start of the New School Year........Goals

My goals that I am going to set for myself for the year are the following:

• To keep my marks at my set goal while I am playing through the basketball season.
• To concentrate in class and grasp the concept of what I am being taught; if I still can't get it, I will ask questions immediatly following the lesson.
• To not procrastinate and to get assignments and studying done early and not left to the last minute.
• To keep my grade in every class, especially precalculus at 80% or higher.
• Finally to get accepted to the University of Manitoba this coming fall.
